Our responsibilities and yours

Confidentiality of group members is very important to ensure that we maintain a friendly open environment where members feel safe to talk about personal issues. This page tells you about our how we protect your information on this web site and about your responsibilities as a user. Our groundrules cover confidentiality in group meetings.

Our responsibilities

We undertake:

  • To keep information about you secure and private. None of your details will be available on the public parts of this site. In addition, you can choose what elements of your personal information you want to disclose to other members of the group.
  • We will not pass on any of the details you supply in this web site to anybody else.
  • We will only use your email address to contact you if we need to ask you about your postings, need help in setting up your account or to send you the newsletter (and possible other future email services) if you've asked us to do this.

Points to note:

  • Any of the information that you supply to this web site is potentially viewable by the web site administrator (currently Danny Barnett). However, the group administrators will also see the information that you've supplied in order to set up your account (your email account).
  • You do not need to disclose your email address to other group members if you don't want to. However, when your account is first set up, we will need to have your email address since this is the value you enter in order to log in and this is where we send system-generated passwords.
  • When we first set up your account on the web site, your username (the name that members see when they read your postings) will be set to your email address. You can change that when you receive your password here.
  • Members who volunteer to take on the role of administrator should be aware that other administrators will also see their email addresses.
  • Information on this web site is held in a secure database but we do not encrypt network traffic between your browser and this web site (certain browsers may give you a warning that this is happening).

Your responsibilities

As a user of this web site, you must undertake:

  • To keep your password private and not to let other people know what it is.
  • To follow the same groundrules as the meetings in terms of your postings: you undertake not to make abusive postings to the web site, or to post material that others members may find offensive.
  • To keep information that you may acquire through your use of the web site confidential and to respect other members' rights to privacy.
  • You will not use email addresses you acquire through this web site for any purpose other than private correspondence with group members.

Please note that the members of the web site are adults and some of the postings may be of a sexually explicit nature.

If you feel that another member has abused these groundrules, you should tell the group administrators. They have the power to remove postings they consider to be abusive, lilbellous or illegal. See the links under "contact us" to find out how to get in touch with the group administrators.
